With so many unknowns The many things we've lost It's hard to find an example Worth defending the costWith so many unknowns In our future's past Emerging from the shadows Let's take our lives backYou're not alone In this fantasy It's terrifying But it's not supposed to beWe've clung to many We've paved some roads But at the end of the day We need to break down Every door that's fucking closedWe tend to walk the shadows It's getting cold and we've been spread too thin Emerging from the shadows Survival's sake now next of kinDaylight savings all around me Pockets posing, ashes falling downIt's not disturbing see That all we've got to say If it's best to do yourself Then the answer lies in meOh, it's okay We've found it out before We've got control back now Like it was meant to beWe're not the problem We're not the cure But at the end of the day We need to break down Every motherfucking doorWe tend to walk the shadows It's getting cold and we've been spread too thin Emerging from the shadows Survival's sake now next of kinDaylight savings all around me Pockets posing, ashes falling downIt's not disturbing see That all we've got to say If it's best to do yourself Then the answer lies in meOh, the answer lies in me Oh, the answer lies in me Oh, the answer lies in me Oh, the answer lies in meThe answer lies in me The answer lies in me The answer lies in me The answer lies in meThe answer lies in me The answer lies in me The answer lies in me The answer lies in me
Plead the Fifth is the fifth studio album by American alternative metal band Taproot. Originally planned for an April 13, 2010 release, it was delayed to May 11. The album marks Taproot's first release through Victory Records, having signed in November 2009. "Fractured (Everything I Said Was True)" was released as the lead single, followed by "Release Me". The confirmed track listing was released on the Victory Records website.
Guitarist Mike DeWolf described the album's sound as a return to the heavy nature of Taproot's early material:
"We're definitely making it as heavy as possible and aggressive while still keeping a lot of the beautiful melodies and just the general beauty of things in it. We're using a lot more of our baritone guitars, which was sort of the signature of the Gift and Welcome years, so that immediately makes things a lot heavier."
The album debuted at #107 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, with first week sales of 5,500.
